Answer from Karen L. Hardy:

I served for 13 1/2 years as a commission for the City of Santa Clara. I understand the issues we face and how to accomplish goals.

? 2. What concerns are of particular importance to the city and how would you address them?

Answer from Karen L. Hardy:

I am strongly concerned the city is considering using city resources to subsidize a stadium for the SF 49ers. A 1/2 million dollar feasibility study showed the city stood to loose $71 million. If a stadium is built it must be done with private funds and a lease payment made to the city for land rental.

Answer from Kevin Moore:

1) Revitalize Santa Clara's "Old Downtown" area.

By supporting a well thought out plan that includes a mix of shops, restaurants and housing.

2) Maintain Outstanding City Services

By maintaining the lowest combined utilities, continuing to replenish the emergency reserves and by paying our employees well.

3) Public Safety

Giving full support in efforts to solve Cold Cases, upgrading and replacing a majority of our fire stations and by paying our Police Chief, Fire Chief and Police Officers and Firefighters well.

? 3. How would you balance the needs of the City as a whole with groups' interests?

Answer from Karen L. Hardy:

I balanced existing residents concerns as new projects were considered in the city during my years as a commissioner. My philosophy is, "first do no harm." New projects should add to the community and not negatively impact existing properties.

Answer from Kevin Moore:

Listen, study and make my best effort.
