It is an honor and privilege to serve the good people of Carpinteria on the City Council. This job calls for dedication and a commitment to respectful collaboration with a non-partisan approach to the issues. I am running for re-election because I believe in the importance and value of public service, and when re-elected, I will dedicate myself to serving our community again with objectivity, civility and integrity.

When I ran for this office 4 years ago, I promised I would do my part to help restore civility to the city council. While out knocking on doors and talking with neighbors, I am pleased to hear so many of you say the tone on the council has improved. The credit for this should be shared equally between the five council members.

As a member of the City Council, and as the City's regional representative on the SB County Association of Governments (SBCAG), I have worked hard on key issues that affect Carpinteria including: public safety, protecting our environment, improving our local and regional transportation system, funding local education, promoting energy efficiency, and economic vitality. I believe the leadership I can continue providing on these issues will help assure we maintain the quality of life that Carpinterians expect and deserve.

Other local matters of priority to me include: increasing recreational opportunities for our youth and seniors, improving traffic circulation, establishing a "quiet-zone" along our railroad corridor, improving our emergency preparedness and response, addressing illegal parking and overcrowding in our neighborhoods, and dealing with the increase in local gang activity.

I hope you will join your neighbors and friends by voting to reelect me so that I can continue making a positive difference on the Council and as our City's regional representative on SBCAG. I ask for your vote on November 4th.
