The role of the school board is to oversee the overall operations of the Center Unified School District, set policy and look towards the future. We rely upon our excellent professional staff to maintain the day to day operations of the district. They in turn seek guidance regarding direction for the District for the present and into the future. I believe that planning for the future is our most important task.

One of the greatest challenges facing all schools is the adequacy of financing. The Center Unified School District has been an excellent steward of financial resources. The CUSD Board has often been faced with difficult choices, but we have made the correct ones. I also believe that the District should not be passive and merely reactive to financial decisions outside of our control. During my current term of office I founded the Center Endowment for Educational Excellence. The goal of this organization is to provide long term funding for District programs. The Endowment is able to set priorities according to local needs and interests.
