Local youth coach and state Senate consultant discusses his message and vision for CSD campaign
In my recent neighborhood precinct walks, folks have asked me about my message for the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors (CSD). My message is straightforward: to bring fresh new leadership that will work to improve the services provided to the citizens of Elk Grove and Galt.

As a volunteer youth coach of football and baseball teams in our community, I understand the importance of organized athletic opportunities to our children. In addition to the physical fitness benefits, athletics instills values such as teamwork, leadership and personal responsibility-- values that allow a child to succeed in life. As a CSD Director, I will work to make sure that every child in our community that wants to participate in organized activities will have that opportunity.

To me, the CSD's community mission is about making sure that kids have a place to go and making sure that parents have a safe place to send their kids nearby their home. As a CSD Director I will continue the tradition of having Elk Grove's parks serve as an achor of our community.

With more than 10 years living in Elk Grove, I have a strong commitment to the community. But, I also have 15 years in public service and understand what it means to govern and produce winning results. In addition, I have budget experience and the know-how to make Sacramento work for the residents of Elk Grove and Galt.

The CSD controls the parks and recreation services for the city of Elk Grove and covers the fire and emergency services for Elk Grove, Galt and surrounding areas in southern Sacramento County. The territory covers 157-square miles and serves 169,000 residents.

I am one of seven candidates, two being incumbents, fighting for the three seats up for grabs. And, I have earned the support of the Cosumnes Firefighters, the Elk Grove Police Officers Association, the Sacramento Central Labor Council, the Harry S. Truman Democratic Club, Vic Fazio, Dean Florez, Sarah Reyes, Kevin Murray, Mike Machado, Gil Cedillo, Mark Ridley-Thomas, Curren Price, former Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas, Natomas School Board Trustee Lisa M. Kaplan, Sacramento City Councilman Kevin McCarty, Elk Grove City Councilman Jim Cooper and Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis.

Also, I have received strong bi-partisan support from many individuals and families in our community for this non-partisan race.

On your ballot, I am the seventh candidate listed on the voting block for the CSD Board of Directors. It is my hope that you, the voters, will support Rod Brewer, "Lucky Number 7," on November 4!
