I have been brought up in the firm belief that government serves the people, it therefore has to be accessible to the people and has to treat them respectfully.

Government, be it federal, state or city, becomes ineffective when those that govern do it solely for the purpose of preserving their position or see that position as a privilege to judge.

Present Palm Desert City Council members, although many of their governing decisions are laudable, have occasionally displayed an Arrogance of Office that is not acceptable even if shown only once...the community has privileged the Council Members to govern the City; they have not been given the privilege to interpret their own opinion as governance.

I am a retired, job-disabled tank truck driver, CNA (certified nursing assistant), waitress (in my own restaurant here in the valley and/or employed), operated manufacturing businesses (personally owned, or for my family) in the Far East; I was a Real Estate Agent in the San Fernando Valley, and owned and/or managed family owned textile department stores in the San Fernando Valley. I graduated from Beverly Hills High in 1959.

I run for City Council because I believe that, in that order, last first, arguing with a three hundred pound, 6'6" cop in Texas und getting him to see it my way; dealing with the needs of the old and infirm and not losing my optimism; having a restaurant in Cathedral City and to give up because we simply couldn't make it through the summer (and having the landlord offering us another restaurant in another location); dealing with manufacturing and production from in the West Pakistan to in the East South Korea; selling real estate (commercial and non-commercial) in Los Angeles and Las Vegas and managing my own and the family's garment stores in the San Fernando Valley will help me to discharge the duties of a Council Person. I am accessible, seek negotiation over confrontation, and have ample personal and business experience. I would like to be seen as an arbiter between the hard realities of the business world and the necessities of the community.
