Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Melissa Ann Melendez

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Lake Elsinore

This information is provided by the candidate

For Lake Elsinore to succeed in the increasingly competitive economy, our city needs to be able to quickly adapt to the changing world and conscientiously build our infrastructure to create more jobs for residents that allow for opportunity and fuel our local economy.

Two issues face us now, one is Economic Development, our visionary strategy for future industry and expansion in the Lake Elsinore market. The other is Economic Growth, a short-term tactical approach to enticing small and mid-level businesses to hang their shingle in our city.

Having a list of companies that have come and gone is no feather in anyone's cap.

Every day a potential business comes to town, looking to bring jobs and tax dollars into our city, it should be a red carpet day in Lake Elsinore. We must make sure the first impression we make is great, not just good. To do so, we must tackle some of our most visible problem areas, such as inadequate landscaping and graffiti, if we hope to compete with neighboring cities and not be left behind.

I believe a clear and aggressive set of financial incentives, available to approved businesses meeting specific criteria, is in order. The level and type of incentive should be tied to the amount of investment made and the number and quality of jobs created.
