Preserving Perris History and Preparing For the Future

By Joanne H. (Johnson) Evans

Candidate for Council Member; City of Perris

This information is provided by the candidate
Perris has a long history to be preserved yet it is growing constantly and we must help to prepare for new growth and plan for the future.
Maintaining the history of Perris is very important and those who have lived here for many years are aware that in the past there were complications with local government not understanding how to prepare for the future and this resulted in overspending and deficits.

The present Council has worked extremely hard to maintain a balanced budget and the City is working smoothly within budget constraints. I wish to be a part of this governing body that keeps the City growing and meeting the needs of the citizens. I feel we need to bring new ideas to the governing board, yet maintain a confortable area for all to live in reaching out to youth and seniors alike in all income levels.

Perris has come a long way with recereation for the youth particularly the new skateboard and bike park which the youth themselves help to design. Involving all in the growth of the City is going to keep it strong and keep it a great place to live and work.

I retired from 34 years of service with the California Department of Forestry and fire Protection /Riverside County Fire Department. During this time I attended many fire and public life safety classes, emergency services training and am qualified in many FEMA positions. This training helps me to be very aware of the needs of strong fire and police protection for all the citizens of the City of Perris.

I have lived in the City of Perris for forty years and raised three children who graduated from Perris High School. I was very much involved with Little League, Scouting and youth activities available at the time. The children now have a greater choice of activities thanks to the citizens who demanded it and the City Officials who made it happen.

I wish to continue to serve the citizens in the City of Perris by being one of its Council Members.

I feel I am well qualified, care about the well being of the City and its citizens. My goals are to work with the council and City Staff on the continuing growth and improvements the City is working on and will be working on in the future.

If elected, I will work diligently and honestly for the citizens of Perris and I thank you in advance for your vote and support. I will provide leadership, competence, integrity and dependability for the citizens of Perris.
