My Plans for Lake Elsinore

By Amy Marie Bhutta

Candidate for Council Member; City of Lake Elsinore

This information is provided by the candidate
A brief overview of what I would like to do...
Should the voters of Lake Elsinore select me as their council person I will represent them and address their daily concerns along with my other responsibilities as a council member. I will provide responsible leadership for our city. While in this leadership position, I have ideas and plans to help our city improve. I will help improve our enforcement of our anti-graffiti ordinance and address the root cause through intervention programs. I will do my best to follow through on getting a post secondary institution to aid our local economy and provide higher education opportunities. I will be an active voice and force to build a new library. I want to bring new businesses to provide more jobs to our city as well as more goods and services for our residents. I want to address the foreclosure issue by working with some of our local builders and other agencies to rehabilitate these homes and their landscaping to keep property values up. Then there is my special project of instituting my local business loyalty program to help local businesses, individuals and local charities. I am really excited to start this program. We could set a precedent for all of Southern California. People will be looking at what we are doing and wanting to model their communities after us. I hope to accomplish these goals while still addressing the day to day issues and the current pressing issues that our city and the nation are facing, such as the economic downturn. We are going to have band together and keep the city's best interest in mind at all times. The city and the RDA have done a good job securing grants such as the $2.6 million business incubator grant and $1 million HOPE 6 grant, but imagine the possibilities if we have a full time grant writer. Plus we have the WIN program Welcoming Investing in Neighborhoods to encourage residents to take an active role in their community. We need to address daily quality of life issues such as traffic flow and do whatever we can to facilitate the process to improve traffic flow in our city. We cannot wait until 2015 for the Railroad Canyon interchange to be completed. Along the way we must not forget the residents and their needs. Working together Lake Elsinore can become the gem of the valley that it deserves to be. A lot of people have put their trust in me and I will not let them or the other 50,000 residents down. Being a council member is a big responsibility and I believe I can provide the kind of leadership Lake Elsinore needs as we head into the future. I would be honored if you vote for me on November 4th.
