As an SMWD Director, Charley is actively working to protect our water quality. Clean and safe water for our families, in our creeks and ocean is a top priority.

Reducing Rates & Lowering Property Taxes

For the seventh time in five years, the SMWD has lowered water rates by more than 10% and reduced property tax rates by 37%, saving millions of dollars to local residents and businesses.

Enhancing Reliability

The SMWD is recognized throughout the state as a leader in assuring clean, reliable water for their customers. New storage capacity, use of reclaimed water for lawns, and effective water conservation helps protect our future.

Focusing on Customers

Charley has led the implementation of aggressive efficiency measures, farsighted strategic planning and strong focus on customer service to provide better service for less money.

Championing Youth and Education

Since joining the Board of Directors, Charley has guided the introduction of water awareness programs in our local schools, voted to utilize district property for local youth sports, and opened lines of communication with the public on water related issues.
