When it comes to discussing political philosophy, it is really my business career which means hard work, conservative approach to finances, and a commitment to strong ethical beliefs. I never really thought of that as a philosophy, however, it is more a way of life that I've gained and one that I hope to share if elected to your City Council.

I take my responsibilities seriously, work to achieve goals and see this as an opportunity to be a public servant, rather than a politician. Having managed a string of business, working as a team and providing leadership is second nature for me. Perhaps this is why I've been successful.

Recognizing that serving the public is being part of a five-member City Council, I will reach out to our citizens, and businesses, and my colleagues to enhance the services provided. It is also important to recognize that to make all these things happen require strong financial direction. The City Council are policy makers and our city staff implement those policies. Having been a keen observer for a number of years, I am aware that Los Alamitos (as a small community) has a number of challenges facing it. Being pretty much built out, with limited space available to expand retail tax-producing businesses, will be a challenge. I will work with fellow Council members to find solutions so that we can assure steady business income.

It is also important to make certain the tax monies are retained by the City, to improve streets and infra structure. We cannot provide everything for each person, but we can achieve results if we carefully apply funding to priority projects. We must also seek alternative revenue streams and partnerships. Working with our neighbors will also be extremely important, because decisions that are made by one will impact the other. We haven't seen this type of cooperation and partnership too much in the past, but must be sensitive to it in the future.

Your support and vote on Nov. 4th will give me an opportunity to work on your behalf. Please vote for KEN STEPHENS ... I'm listed number ONE on the ballot! Thank you.
