Dawn's Candidate Statement

By Dawn Braudo

Candidate for Board Member; Brea Olinda Unified School District

My Candidate Statement
I have lived in Brea with my family for the last 20 years. We chose to invest our family in this community because of the great potential we saw here and the excellent schools we would eventually be sending our children to. I bring experience as a parent, business professional, and an active community member to this venture. I do not have biases or a personal political agenda I am looking to achieve. I am here for the children and the future of our school district.

My primary platform is quality, efficiency, communication, and community. I believe these are the cornerstones of a strong school district. We should strive to provide a quality education to all. We should operate in the most efficient manner possible and utilize community resources to their fullest. I believe we cannot continue to operate on the assumption that the government will continue to fund schools as they have in the past. We need to look to our community to ensure we can continue to operate a quality school district when funding decreases or disappears. This means actively seeking more partnerships within the community. Increasing communication is of the utmost importance in building and maintaining trust. Without that, we have nothing.

I don't have all the solutions to get every one of those cornerstones solidly in place. Building a solid foundation takes more than one person. I do, however, have a lot of ideas and the desire to work with the community to develop a strong school district and bring us together for our children and our future.
