Steve has been a resident of Seaside for 45 years. He was born into an Army family in 1947, and grew up at various Army posts in the United States and Europe. He was part of the first graduating class from Seaside High School in 1965.

Steve attended Monterey Peninsula College and Humboldt State University, receiving a degree in Civil Engineering in 1968.

After he served his country in the U.S. Army, Steve worked at various local businesses before beginning his 32 year engineering career, first by joining the Monterey County Public Works Department in 1972. Then over the years, at various companies and agencies, he has served as Land Survey Party Chief, Senior Engineering Technician, Manager Planning Services, Paralegal Real Estate Researcher, and a Geographic Information Systems contractor. Today he works for his brother, nephews and nieces in the pest control industry here in Seaside.

Steve and his wife, Georgette (a Seaside native) , celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary this year. Their extended family and relatives are Seaside residents and Seaside business professionals.

Steve has served Seaside in many capacities over the past Sixteen years:

  • Nine years as your City Council member and the last four years as your Seaside Mayor Pro-Tem.
  • Four years Seaside Planning Commission.
  • Four years Seaside Board of Architectural Review and three years as the City Council Representative.
  • Eight years Mosquito Abatement District Board of Trustees.
  • Six years Chairman Seaside Traffic Committee
  • Four years Seaside Board Member Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency.
  • Four years Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District Board Alternate.
  • Two years Seaside Bikeway Committee.
  • Twelve years President Seaside High School Alumni Association and webmaster.
  • One year Vice-Chairman Seaside Stop The Violence Task Force.
  • One year President Monterey Division of the League of California Cities.
  • Four years 4th Supervisor District Transportation Agency of Monterey County Citizens Advisory Committee.
  • Member NAACP, LULAC, American Legion Post 591, Seaside Citizens League for Progress, Philippine-American Cultural Society.
  • Former Member "The New Seaside Library" team.
  • Four years Board Member Seaside Police Activities League.
