Board of Trustees; Santa Monica Community College District

As the first college graduate in my family, I believe all students deserve the same opportunity.

My extensive community experience includes serving as Vice Chair, Malibu Public Facilities Authority; Secretary/Treasurer, Bayside District Corporation (which manages the Third Street Promenade); and Chair, Wilshire/Montana Neighborhood Coalition. I am an entertainment attorney and former MGM vice president. I teach entertainment law at Pepperdine and attended Harvard for my law/undergraduate degrees and Stanford for my master's. My wife Melissa is a former teacher in LAUSD and we have two children, Dash and Zora.

As Chair of the Santa Monica College Board of Trustees, I have been a leader in:

• Expanding vocational/technical programs, such as automotive, nursing, early childhood education and logistics
• Opening the Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center's Madison Campus
• Updating College facilities to enhance sustainability and academic opportunity
• Building bridges with neighborhoods, the City of Santa Monica, the City of Malibu, the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and the City of Los Angeles

• Maintain SMC's academic excellence as the top transfer school
• Support Emeritus College and high school dual enrollment
• Switch to alternative energy sources
• Preserve fiscal stability, including prudent use of bond funds
