ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Served two terms as Mayor, and among the many recent accomplishments made by the City with my strong support as a member of the Council are:

  • Open Space acquisitions and enhancement projects such as the Sunny Brae and Lima forests; Baylands, Alto and Gould Ranches; McDaniels Slough and Arcata Baylands.

  • Increasing housing opportunities by expanding Arcata's first-time home buyers and housing rehabilitation programs, and by approving housing developments such as Janes Creek Meadows, Courtyards II and III, Q Street, 30th Street and Plum Village.

  • Updating and creation of important documents such as General Plan 2020, the Land Use Code, Capital Improvement Plan, Pedestrian and Bike Master Plan, Greenhouse Reduction Plan, and Code of Ethics.

  • Supporting economic development projects such as the Arcata Flakeboard plant renovation, the Arcata Theater renovation and Carlson Wireless relocation.

  • Improving City services by negotiating 2 three-year contracts with City employees, successfully recruiting a highly-qualified new City Manager, creating an Energy Specialist position, renovating the Arcata Ballpark, and the great expansion of the City's website for on-line public access to most City Plans and Council meeting packet information and permit application forms.

  • Continued expansion of positive relations between the City of Arcata and the Humboldt State administration.
