ABOUT FRANK

When I was on the Eureka City Council in 90's I helped initiate the waterfront improvement at the foot of F street. I have the skills and desire to finish the job that was started back then.

Close your eyes and envision the future. I see a thriving waterfront that includes a restaurant at the water's edge. A place you can go to enjoy dinner with your family and friends while watching the local fishermen, sailboats and kayaks come and go. Imagine a thriving waterfront, not vacant lots, that draws the locals and tourists to enjoy dining, shopping and all the special events in OldTown/Downtown Eureka.

After talking with many of the voters in our community they are almost unanimous in their #1 concern -- Jobs.

We need a city council person who is open to bringing in good paying jobs to our local community while balancing the concerns of the environment.

I believe Eureka needs smart growth that prevents urban sprawl. We need to protect our precious environment and rural lifestyle, but we need jobs. Our local government should foster entrepreneurs and small businesses in order to help create those jobs.

Prior to the 1990s the west side of Broadway consisted primarily of derelict buildings. I was part of the team that helped bring commerce to that area along with the hundreds of jobs that came with these businesses.

Public safety needs to be a priority. Eureka should have fully staffed police and fire departments. I patrolled our streets as a beat cop for years. With over 38 years of law enforcement experience, I understand what it takes to keep our city streets safe. I was awarded the EPD "Officer of the Year" in 1978.

I will work hard for all citizens of our great town. Twice during the 1990s the voters of Eureka elected me to the Eureka City Council. In 1998 I was elected the Humboldt County Coroner-Public Administrator, where I proudly serve our County.

You have my commitment to listen to your concerns. Even though we choose to live in a small town, I believe Eureka has the potential to be a great small town. With your support, we can make it better for the future.

"Good government is about listening, compromising, and not having an agenda. It's about doing what's best for the community. Government should be friendly, open, and invite participation." Ask anyone that's worked with me and they'll tell you... this isn't just what I believe, it's who I am ... Frank Jager
