The irreplaceable Councilmember Dona Spring, who appointed me to the Labor Commission, taught me the importance of saying what I do and doing what I say. I ask for your support so I can do just that + as we together roll up our sleeves and work for stability, habitability, and equitability in Berkeley housing. For years, I have served the city as a committed change agent. As Labor Commission Chair, I led Berkeley to become a pioneer in joining a nationwide sweatshop-free consortium. As a former Cal student, I educated hundreds of people on their tenant rights and how Prop 98 would have affected them if it passed. With your help, I will expand tenant outreach and education through partnerships with the low-income, disabled, senior citizen, and student communities. I will press for an effective seismic retrofitting program that is not funded on the backs of tenants. I will organize not just here, but in Sacramento, to build a strong, grassroots coalition of tenants. I will advocate for sensible green technologies like solar panels. Please join Councilmembers Anderson, Maio, and Moore in supporting me and Candidates Shelton, Harrison, Townley, and Drake as we unite to secure progressive housing policies!

The Rent Stabilization Board protects affordable housing, resolves landlord-tenant disputes, and provides policy expertise to the Berkeley City Council.
