Putting Public Safety First

Fremont used to be one of the safest cities to live in the Country. However, recently we have seen an increase in crime and have experienced rolling closures of our Fire Stations. We MUST protect Fremont families by investing in public safety through support for our first responders, and providing support for communications, equipment, training, and personnel resources. As your Councilmember, I will put public safety first, so that Fremont can continue to be one of the best cities to live and raise a family in. We MUST prioritize public safety for Fremont's future.

Planning Fremont's Future with Community Inclusiveness

Fremont recently celebrated its first 50 years, but now it is time to look ahead and start planning for the next 50 years. Recently, developers have had too much influence over the growth and expansion of our City. Because of this growing issue, I have made a pledge not to accept any financial contributions from developers.

Instead of allowing developers to have such a heavy influence on our City, I promise to work with my fellow colleagues to put into place a process that allows collective community principals to guide our future growth and development.

Fremont is 95% built out, and projections tell us that our population will grow by over 40,000 people over the next 15 years. Strategic planning will be essential if we are going to manage our housing needs and traffic congestion.

On the City Council, I will work collaboratively to develop a comprehensive plan for Fremont's future, guided by Fremont values, with community input. We MUST focus on SMART GROWTH and SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT for Fremont's future.

Creating a Thriving Local Economy

Far too many Fremont residents still leave our City to go shopping, dining, or to see a movie. I believe that we can create a vibrant Fremont, with pedestrian friendly centers and an energetic downtown atmosphere, all while maintaining the character of our historic districts and overall quality of life.

To do this, we must focus on economic development, with an effort to develop our historic districts and support locally owned businesses.

Economic development is critical to Fremont's success. I will strive to create a thriving local economy by focusing on our small businesses and kick-starting the development of a vibrant Downtown. I will also work with my fellow Council Members to put into place a plan that attracts business and industry in emerging fields like high tech, bio tech, and nanotechnology. We MUST create high quality jobs for Fremont's future.
