Tim Sbranti's service to Dublin began at a young age. Maintaining a permanent residence in Dublin since 1978, Sbranti is a product of Dublin's public schools and graduated in 1993 from Dublin High School. His school years were highlighted by service on the City of Dublin's Parks and Community Services Commission and as Student Body President at DHS. Upon graduation from college, Sbranti returned to his hometown to become a successful teacher, Student Activities Director, and coach at his alma mater.

In addition to his work at Dublin High, Sbranti has been very active in community affairs and local politics. In 2000, Sbranti was on the committee to pass Measure M and preserve open space in the west Dublin hills. After serving as a district aide to State Senator Tom Torlakson and completing a stint on the Dublin Housing Task Force in 2001, Sbranti ran for an open seat on the Dublin City Council in March of 2002, garnering 66% of the vote.

During Sbranti's tenure on the Dublin City Council, the city has received recognition for its development of smart growth principles with mixed use, creative design, quality city facilities, parks, and open space. In addition, the city has generated budget surpluses on an annual basis, allowing the council to increase funding for capital improvement projects as well as public safety, park maintenance, and other city services. For his efforts, Sbranti was again elected to the Dublin City Council in November of 2006, earning more than double the amount of the votes of his nearest challenger. In 2007, Sbranti was appointed as Vice-Mayor by his colleagues on the council.

Sbranti has also shown leadership in other areas within the community. He co-chaired the successful Measure C School Bond campaign to rebuild Dublin High School and refurbish schools citywide. He was selected by the DUSD Board of Trustees to help initiate the Dublin Pride + Integrity in Action committee that was created to unite the schools and community around promoting positive character traits citywide. Sbranti also served as chair of the Dublin Public Safety Memorial Committee that raised over $60,000 in 2005 to build a permanent monument at the Dublin Civic Center to honor those police officers and fire fighters that die in the line of duty.

Outside of politics and advocacy, Sbranti has been very active in several other local civic and church organizations over the years. For nearly three years, he was the writer for the Valley Times' weekly "Around Dublin" column. Sbranti has also served as a board member for the Tri-Valley Housing and Opportunity Center, the Dublin Lions Club, the Dublin Partners in Education, the Las Positas College Foundation, the Dublin Historical Preservation Association, the Tri-Valley unit of the American Cancer Society, the St. Raymond's Knights of Columbus, and the St. Raymond's Parish Council.

Sbranti graduated from Sacramento State University with a B.A. in Government with Minors in History and Communications. He also holds a teaching credential in Social Studies. His wife Stephanie is a life-long resident of the Tri-Valley, and is currently a teacher at Valley Continuation High School in Dublin.
