BART Questions Answered

Vision for BART, San Jose extension, and Late night trains.
My vision for BART would be to complete the extensions (Livermore, Warm Springs and Brentwood)that were promised in the original bond measure 50 years ago. I also feel that BART's earthquake retrofitting should be an immediate priority. With the raise in gas prices, BART can provide a much needed service to all citizens in the Bay Area, especially when coordinated with other transit company schedules.

San Jose will be a new comer to the BART system, as they have not been paying for the system for 50 years like the rest of us. It will be a very important connection from Warm Springs, but will need to have the Livermore and Brentwood extensions completed before it will be truly effective. A large portion of the San Jose workforce live in the areas not yet served by BART. I will strive to see the extensions built at the same time. San Jose will need to pass their tax measure this November in order to have the funds to operate BART. If that doesn't happen, other options should be considered, like a phased build out of the extension..

I think that running BART trains after midnight will come to fruition when funding is available to do it. I would work to find that funding because I believe that BART should be providing this service. I also believe that BART should be opening their bathrooms for the public to use. As the train rides become longer, the closing of the bathrooms has been a problem.
