Showcasing Accomplishments

By Joseph Conrad "Conrad" Hake

Candidate for Board Member; Hayward Unified School District; 2 Year Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
A blog is the quickest, easiest way to showcase accomplishments at all levels. This means it will actually be used.
The HUSD Web Site needs a blog that can receive entries from all schools - and, ideally, from the students of those schools as budding journalists. If the community knows about a "green lunch program" at a school (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot, the 4 R's of green lunching), it will bring greater enthusiasm to those kids and those teachers. If a student builds a marvelous new welded piece of art, let the community see it! That may encourage a student who might otherwise struggle. If a choir wins the state championship, put it out for public consumption before the sun rises again!

One benefit is that the children and teachers feel supported. Another is that the media now have a ready garden of positive news stories that they can pursue as they find interest.

It is time that we showcase accomplishment, not just the negative!
