Economic And Environmental Renewal

By expanding the solar financing district model to proven and affordable environmental investments such as solar thermal(hot water), thermal insulation, energy efficient windows and household appliances we will reduce monthly utility expenses for our residents, reduce our green house gas emissions, and create the green collar jobs economy that will be necessary to float our community through the economic collapse we are entering now. nd environmental crises we face.
The full solar and environmental upgrade listed above would cost as much as $40,000 per property. Which financed by the city against the property tax base, would cost each participant about $330 dollars a month in mortgage payments, and would save each property about 300 dollars a month in gas and electric fees. After taxes participants would pay approximately $80 less then they had before the whole environmental upgrade. With 30,000 eligible properties across Berkeley, this program could produce up to 1.2 billion dollars of Green Collar work in the City of Berkeley.
