My focus will be on the following three priorities

By Robert "Bob" Brunton

Candidate for Board Member; Ohlone Community College District; Trustee Area 1, Seat 4

This information is provided by the candidate
1. Coordination and Cooperation - In order to make the tax dollars go further and achieve more Ohlone College must be diligent and proactive in working with our local school districts, agencies, groups, clubs, foundations and employers. I believe a well connected Ohlone College is good for both the college and our community. This past term Ohlone College has made good progress in this area and next term I will continue to advocate for even more progress. (See past term highlight)

2. Be your advocate to Ohlone and be Ohlone's advocate to you and our state. Advocacy is a primary role and function of an Ohlone Trustee. I take the oath of office seriously and have done my best to a consistent advocate for the students, taxpayers, and the underrepresented assets of Ohlone College. I believe in communication. Ohlone College is blessed to have outstanding administration, faculty and staff. As a trustee I will communicate to our administration and provide them the best input possible. We will give them the tools and resources to success, hold them accountable and report back to you how we are doing and what if anything we need from you. I will also work with Sacramento leaders to communicate with them what is needed to meet our community's educational goals.

3. Open and Thorough Governing + Ohlone College is a public college and you are the owners. I have been a consistent proponent of making sure that you can be involved in our meetings and are aware of what we are doing. My efforts have made it possible for you to watch our meetings on TV and Internet. I believe that not only should our discussions and actions be in the open but that the discussions be thorough and with encouragement of many perspectives. I have promoted polices and practices that allow the public to add agenda items that will be discussed.
