I am pleased to announce that I am running for re-election as Berkeley's Mayor. In the last few years, working with the people of Berkeley, we have accomplished a great deal. We are recognized as one of the most sustainable and green cities in the country, we have built affordable housing, protected our neighborhoods, enhanced the arts, provided new jobs and safe places for our youth to gather, while balancing our budget and receiving the highest bond rating for a city of our size.

There is still much to be done: from implementing our Climate Action Plan and providing leadership on turning around global warming; continuing to build a strong green economy in Berkeley and the East Bay addressing the health disparities and the achievement gap for our young people, to making sure Berkeley residents receive excellent city services, from recycling to police and fire protection. I look forward to the challenge and working together I'm confident we will succeed.
