Balanced Development - The rapid pace of development in Fremont has brought us overcrowded schools and traffic congestion and is straining our city budget. Yet our City Council continues to encourage huge developments that will make all these problems worse. I advocate creating a plan for Fremont created through true community involvement that will guide our city toward more sustainable growth.

Healthy Local Economy - Independent, locally-owned businesses are an essential part of a vibrant economy. Locally-owned businesses put more money back into the city and create jobs for residents. We must recognize what these businesses contribute and promote a balanced economic development policy that doesn't create unfair burdens on small businesses.

Pedestrian Friendly Commercial Districts - Our city government does little to support Fremont's traditional commercial districts. Many smaller cities like Pleasanton, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View have worked to make their commercial districts into a source of pride and tax revenue. Fremont can be more than a bedroom community. We shouldn't have to leave our city to have an enjoyable and attractive place to spend our free time.

Attention to our Schools - Due to state budget cuts, our schools are struggling to meet our children's needs with fewer resources. The City Council must ensure that its decisions don't put more pressure on our school system and must coordinate with the school board to make our schools the best they can be.
