I am a retired educator having taught 30 years in Missouri public schools. I began my teaching career at Fox School District, Arnold, Missouri in 1967 where I taught for two years before being employed by Pattonville School District, St. Ann, Missouri. I taught students in the first and second grades and retired in 1997. I served on numerous curriculum committees including Math, Language Arts, and Social Studies. I was an active member of the local and state organizations affiliated with the National Education Association serving as delegate to Missouri NEA Representative Assembly and to the National Education Association Representative Assembly. I also served as Membership co-chair and Political Action Committee co-chair at the local level. I was a member of the Parent Teacher Association.

Education: B.S. in Elementary Education, Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, 1967.

1971.

Current activities include:

  • Missouri NEA - Retired.
  • Metro St. Louis NEA-Retired, Secretary-treasurer, 1999-2003.
  • Missouri National Education Association Government Relations Team Chair in West St. Louis County, 2002-2008.
  • West County Democrats, Vice-chair and Co-Vice chair, 2003-2007; Program Committee chair, 2007-2008.
  • Second Congressional District Delegate to the Democratic National Convention, 2004.
  • Second Congressional District Democratic Women's Clubs, member.
  • League of Women Voters, member and observer to the Parkway Board of Education.
  • Greater St. Louis Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority,president, 2001-2003.
  • Parkway School District, Government Relations Committee, participant, 2005-2008.
  • Kidsmart, Tools for Learning, Bridgeton, Missouri, volunteer and supporter.
  • National Organization of Women-St. Louis, member.
  • Endorsed by the National Women's Political Caucus of St. Louis.

Awards and Special Recognitions:
  • Missouri NEA-Retired, Volunteer of the Year, 2002.
  • Missouri NEA Lorna Bottger Award for Individual Excellence in Political Action, 2003.
  • Women Legislators of Missouri- Certificate in honor of outstanding dedication to the field of Education, 2004.
  • Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority, Woman of Distinction Award, 2004.
  • West County Democrats, JoAnn Fox Hughes Award for outstanding service to West County Democrats and the Community, 2004.

My husband, Glenn, and I have been residents of Chesterfield since 1986. Glenn retired in 1996 from Kirkwood School District.
