" A Time for Choosing"

As a long time supporter of the Reagan Revolution, I believe the time has come to bring the Republican Party back to a true conservative agenda. The simple elegance of faith, independence, and the common sense of Reagan's agenda are needed today.

Choose Life and Family Values -

I believe in the sanctity of human life - that life begins at conception and abortion is evidence of society's lack of respect for life.

Grounded marriages are the social mortar of our great society. Historically, marriage has been defined as only between a man and a woman and not for spurious reasons.

While exciting developments have been made using adult stem cells and I support spending for more research in this area, I am opposed to the use of embryonic stem cells. No significant advances have been proven using the lines of embryonic stem cells approved for research.

I support the use of strict loss limits in gambling casinos. The use of loss limits will protect Missouri families and help keep down the hidden costs of gambling. These hidden costs include crime, drugs, drunk drivers; not to mention the impact on families who lose cars, boats and homes.

Choose Sound Education -

I support parental rights in all educational decisions. A government for the people must do just that - side with the people, in this case, the parents.

The percentage of monies spent on administration far exceeds that spent in the classroom - this is unacceptable.

Students are graduating unable to succeed at the college level. College is not the place for remedial studies. Curriculum standards must ensure adequate reading, writing, logic, math, and history. Schools that are failing must submit benchmarked action plans for review.

I want to raise "thinking children" who own knowledge, not just able to regurgitate bits and pieces.

Choose Reponsible Use of Natural Resources -

The time has come for the Republican Party to take the lead as good stewards of our natural resources - Doing so in a fiscally responsible manner. I will promote legislation that creates incentives, not mandates, to encourage development of better fuel cell technology, Green Building, and other sources of renewable fuels. This will improve our environment and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Choose Security -

Illegal immigration - As a society we have decided that if one enters this country without permission, we have a problem with it. Illegal immigration is a cancer on our economy and society. I support severe penalties for businesses that employ illegals and the forced deportation of any illegal who commits a crime. I support legislation that terminates public assistance to illegals, empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws, and punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

I advocate a proactive comprehensive Emergency Management System. Let's remember the lessons of the past! I propose a Civil Defense and Emergency Management System that is reminiscent of the 1940's when emergency disaster plans provided staged resources in the field. Citizens had immediate access to government resources in the event of any natural disaster. The great commission of government is to provide for the security and welfare of Missouri citizens.

Choose Government Oversight/ Not Intervention -

The government's first duty is to protect the rights of citizens - even from government itself.

The legislature must choose respect for citizen property rights and to protect against eminent domain abuse. The Constitution's provision for eminent domain was not designed to provide more retail space!

Choose A Stronger Economy -

A strong growing economy does not require new or higher taxes. A growing, strong economy does require discipline in spending. Missouri's economy is improving and continued conservative fiscal policy and no tax increase will provide continued momentum. I am opposed to tax increases!
