As a community we’re not part of the problems plaguing Sacramento. Yet year after year we’re told to accept cuts to education, barely adequate care in our hospitals, and higher prices at the pump while our roads get worse. As a community, we deserve better.

We deserve an advocate that understands the urgency of our needs. We deserve a legislator that can work beyond the partisanship that stall progress. We deserve a representative beholden to our interests, not the special interests. We deserve results – and we can’t expect them by electing the same types of politicians each time.

I am proud to have spent over thirty years in this community, watching it grow as you watched me grow. Our shared commitments to public safety, sustainable living, and equity for all helped me become the leader I am today. As an elected higher education advocate I fought to lower fees for 2.1 california students and won. While working for the United States House of Representatives I worked to guarantee fair, equitable, and timely results for residents here at home.

Together, we’ll work to address California’s commitment to clean energy, a humane immigration policy, and fiscal health. This June I respectfully request your trust, your vote, and commitment to working together for a brighter tomorrow.
