Abortion is not a necessary evil. We have the resources to provide for pregnant women and babies.The national Democratic platform states that abortion should be "safe, legal, and rare." Of the three conditions, it could only be said that abortion is legal. It is definitely not safe! Women die all too frequently from botched abortions. Every once in a while, one reads in the news that a woman has died or been molested by an abortionist. An abortionist does not have to be a licensed doctor. Sanitary conditions are less stringent than veterinary facilities. The worst of it is that abortion is not really a choice. Many vulnerable girls are exploited because laws allowing abortion exist. Rapists and sexual predators can destroy the evidence legally, leaving a life-long scar on the psyche of a woman who bears the wound of a dead fetus instead of a living person! Besides, tests have shown that artifically terminated pregnancy can lead to breast-cancer. What happens to the mammery glads that are suddenly stopped from producing the milk that would have nourished a developing human? Abortion is not rare. It is widespread. Even one is too many! |
