Health Care

By Jeff Morris

Candidate for United States Representative; District 2; Democratic Party

This information is provided by the candidate
Jeff Morris has been a leader in retaining and increasing rural access to healthcare and supports Health Care reform that puts patients first.
This is probably the most complicated and essentially important issue that we are facing as a nation and as individuals. Access to adequate care, insurance and facilities are the fundamental needs for anyone. These fundamental needs are especially challenging in rural Northern California.

Jeff Morris has been a leader in retaining and increasing rural access to health care not only in Trinity County but as an adviser to Modoc County where they are working towards saving their Hospital and Emergency Room. Jeff was an integral part of saving the only Emergency Room and Hospital in Trinity County and is continuing to monitor the progress of Trinity Hospital under the new independent Health Care District.

Our national health system has gone from people as the most important entity to the bottom line being number one. If changes are made to our health care system Jeff believes that the focus should start at patient care and not the bottom lines of insurance companies. Lack of adequate health care also affects our individual economic health and our overall economy. Illness and medical bills caused half of the 1,458,000 personal bankruptcies in 2001, according to a study published by the journal Health Affairs.

Jeff Morris supports Health Care reform that puts patients first.
