Public Safety

By Gabriella Holt

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 54; Republican Party

Keep our streets safe
The number one priority of government is to keep our streets, neighborhoods and communities safe. Laws aimed at protecting victims from violent crime must be strengthened in order to keep California safe. In order to accomplish this goal, we must make sure our police officers and firefighters are given the tools they need to accomplish their jobs.

In the Assembly, I will be a forceful advocate for the rights of victims and a supporter of our public safety officials. Specifically, I will support efforts to:

  • Provide support to enact Jessica's Law in California to keep sex offenders in prison and to continually monitor their location once on parole to protect the innocent from the most heinous predators.

  • Strengthen criminal justice laws to make sure felons serve their full sentence instead of being released back onto the streets by expanding prison capacity. This includes making sure that the 3-Strikes Law is fully enforced.

  • Adopt legislation that provides firefighters and police the manpower they need to carry out their duties and safely staff their vehicles.

  • Ensure that we have enough judges and courts to handle rising case loads to prevent defendants from being released for lack of trial resources.
