Meet Larry Dick

The son of a construction worker, Larry D. Dick understood at an early age the value of sacrifice and hard work. Whether you look at his service as a Medic in the Army, his election to the Municipal Water District of Orange County Board of Directors, or his recognition as the Small Business Owner of the Year, it is clear Larry Dick held those values throughout his life. Seeking an opportunity to provide opportunity for his young family, Larry's migration from the Midwest to Southern California typifies the kind of dedication to our community that has made it the great place it is today.

Respected Conservative Republican

Widely respected as a conservative activist in Orange County, Larry serves on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Taxpayers Association. The Orange City Council appointed Larry as Traffic Commissioner. Larry's Republican peers appointed him as a member of the California delegation to the 2004 Republican National Convention and the Orange Republican Women's Federated nominated Larry As "Humanitarian of the Year" in recognition of his service to his community. Although he has a great deal to be proud of, Larry's Midwestern humility knows that his 31 years of marriage to his wife Sally and their two children, Jane and David remain his greatest achievement.

Successful Business Owner

With his wry sense of humor, Larry likes to remind people that he does have a day job as President and CEO of the La Salle Group. His success at that day job was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce when it named the La Salle Group Small Business of the Year in 1997. Larry was also recognized by the State Assembly as Small Business Person of the Year in 2004.

Community Leader

Larry served on the executive boards of both the Garden Grove and Orange Chambers of Commerce where he served as Chairman of their respective Legislative Affairs Committee. Larry is a member of the Orange Rotary Club, a member of American Legion Post #0132 and the Elks Club. A former member of the Finance Committee for St. Joseph Foundation, Larry now serves on the Leadership Council that supports St. Joseph Hospital. Larry also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Santiago Canyon College Foundation.

Water Expert

Those with a respect for the history of Southern California understand the importance water has played in its history. Known for rolling up his sleeves to get the job done, Larry's neighbors asked him to serve on the Board of the Serrano Water District in 1997. Larry's hard work was recognized with his election to the Municipal Water District of Orange County Board of Directors in 2000. Larry's leadership on statewide water issues began in 2003 with his appointment to the influential Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. The Board of Directors selected Larry as Chairman of MWD's Audit Committee charged with reviewing the financial and day to day operations MWD. Larry also serves as an active member of the state-wide Association of California Water Agencies.
