Commercial and Industrial reassessment.

By Anselmo A. Chavez

Candidate for State Senator; District 1; Democratic Party

This information is provided by the candidate
Commercial and industrial reassessment is the most negative factor in the state tax system.

I propose that commercial and industrial property be periodically reassessed at market value.

If commerccial and industrial property were to be assessed at market value - lack of revenue for schools, cities, and counties, would be solved. Included in the above would be adequate funding for education, and assistance for the poor and the elderly.

Taxes collected in the first year would be be approximately 7-10 billion dollars, and growing with the economy.

Homeowners would not be adversely impacted by this reform.

That is, if commercial and industrial properties are assessed as stated above, most of the monetary problems that we now have in California would disappear. I'm of the opinion that if the above action is taken, that money would be available to propose special treatment to; homeowners, renters, senior citizens, disabled persons, first time home buyers, and small business owners.
