State Budget:

Make no mistake I will fight any cuts in funding for our schools, public safety and emergency response or health care. We need leadership that will fight the special interest stranglehold on our budget, cut wasteful spending and invest in new environmental technologies to bring "green" collar jobs to California. I support providing a "job creation tax credit" to businesses that locate or expand business in our State.

Health Care:

I will fight for universal health care coverage for all Californians, lower prices for prescription drugs and emphasize prevention and cost reduction. In particular, we need to focus on fitness and health in our schools, ban soda and junk food and deal with the tragic and costly epidemic of obesity and diabetes in our children.

Education:

California's public schools rank near the bottom in nation. That's simply unacceptable. We need an emergency plan to reduce class size, provide teachers with better pay and create specialized math, science and reading tutorials to boost academic achievement. We must also commit to expanding anti-gang and anti-drug programs as well as more after-school programs for working families to keep kids safe and off the streets.
