Smart Voter Official Statement for Guy F. Smith

Candidate for
County Supervisor; Sonoma County; Supervisorial District 5

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

I have many concerns regarding our future and believe strongly that I can make a difference. Critical decisions must be made to lead us towards realistic budget spending. Experience in wetlands remediation, agriculture and the film industry have taught me the importance of budget constraints and completing tasks on time.

As your supervisor, I will have the ability to clarify the dichotomies that exist between agriculture and environment. I am a strong advocate of watershed clean-up and enhancement. As a board member of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, I received the hands-on environmental science experience necessary to make sound decisions concerning our future.

My years on the Sonoma County Historical Society board, participating in preserving our county's rich cultural history, has been an honor, as was being president of the Pacific Coast Air Museum.

Youth guidance is an investment we must make. I assisted our local middle school for many years in outdoor education programs and am optimistic that these children hold the key to our future. Having spent many years as a volunteer fireman, my sense of community is strong, and public safety is of utmost importance. As your Supervisor, I will treat each issue with complete objectivity and fairness.
