A lifelong peace, justice, environmental, and anti-death penalty activist, I began to be active while I was at Analy High School in Sebastopol; my mother and I carried signs protesting PG&E's plans to build a nuclear reactor out on Bodega Head. There's nothing like success to encourage a young activist, and I was on my way.

In the late 60's I moved to the Owens Valley, in the Eastern High Sierra; while there I was very active in the Owens Valley Committee, a political action committee that worked hard to prevent the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power from diverting even more water from Mono Lake and the Owens Valley so that LA residents could over-water their lawns. That long and hard campaign was ultimately successful; water diversions from Mono Lake have been cut way back, and water flow is being restored to the Owens River.

Returning to Sonoma County, I was here when the Pacifica National Board cut the power to KPFA in mid-broadcast of Dennis Bernstein's Flashpoints program. Sonoma County immediately swung into action, and I was a founding member of North Bay for KPFA, an affinity group that organized listeners to keep the pressure on the national board to restore KPFA and the Pacifica Network to its original mission. I helped publish the North Bay for KPFA Folio, participated in raising funds to promote the ultimately successful Listeners' Lawsuit, and was one of the members elected to KPFA's very first democratically-elected Station Board.

Since then I have been active in the movement to end the occupation of Iraq, the anti death penalty movement, and in the movement to impeach President Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. I am a member of the steering committee of Progressive Democrats Sonoma County, and am currently an alternate for Lynn Hamilton to the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee; in that capacity, I serve as Chair of the Candidate Search and Development Standing Committee.

To feed my soul, I read the poetry of William Stafford, Mary Oliver, and others, I am a bird-watcher and a wildlife habitat gardener. A hand disability now prevents me from pursuing my passion for piano, so to keep music in my life, I recently started to learn how to play percussion instruments.
