We need to do more than improve our ability to fight a wildfire, we need to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for firestorm preparedness. To do that, I will redirect a portion of our half percent sales tax back towards fire protection. I will reinstate the county labor camps and press for a regional fire department. I will also fight for the installation of early fire detection systems in our backcountry and a secondary early warning system in bordering communities. All of these can be implemented with little cost to taxpayers. Furthermore, I have a vision for the establishment of a `Defensible Boundary', a zone that extends along the perimeters of our urban interface. In these zones, I will work to incentivize home and business owners to make investments in their properties that benefit the entire county, investments that will make all of our urban areas defendable against the onslaught of wildfires.

In the area of social services, I will demand an end to our county's emphasis on those services that maximize federal reimbursements while destroying families. Our primary concern must to serve the people's needs first, and not to derive profit from their plight.

I will fight for ordinances that will stop the misuse of discretionary funding by the Supervisors. No longer should we allow a supervisor to accept gifts or to receive public or professional promotion in exchange for such a donation.

I will enlist the public's support for the imposition of a two term limit and promise to impose that limit on myself regardless.

I will be accessible to every one of you because I believe it is a supervisor's primary duty to be continually in contact with their constituents.

And last, I will bring open government to San Diego County. The public must be assured that our finances are wisely and properly handled, and in addition, that county services are administered without discrimination to all protected classes.

I am running for County Supervisor because I love San Diego and I want my children, and yours, to be able to raise their families in this great county without fearing a government that would place profit over service, or budget over people.
