Sacramento County, CA June 3, 2008 Election
Smart Voter Full Biography for Robert S. Evans

Candidate for
Member, Republican Party County Central Committee; County of Sacramento; Supervisorial District 3

This information is provided by the candidate

Some people running for Sacramento County Central Committee have put as their priorities such things as opposing gay marriage, opposing abortion, building fences along the Mexican boarder and other issues of this kind. Although I may agree or not agree with these things, this is NOT anything that a member of the Central Committee deals with. We have elected officials - members of the State Assembly, Senate and Congress - who deal with these issues.

The only things that members of the Sacramento County Central Committee do are two - register voters all year long and turn the Republican voters out at election time.

Before you vote for any candidate running for Central Committee, ask that person "How many voters did you personally register this year?" And ask "How many telephone banks did you participate in?" And ask "Did you carry literature for ALL of the Republican candidates when you (if you) walked precincts?"

Some people I know who are running for Central Committee will tell you that they don't have the time to register voters or that their church has a program to register voters or they have some other excuse why they didn't register voters. They may tell you they don't have time to walk precincts or that they disagreed with some of the Republican candidates so didn't carry their literature but did carry the literature of the candidates they agreed with.

If the candidate who is running for Central Committee doesn't register voters or participate in telephone banks or carry ALL Republican candidates literature but instead wants to spend their time debating the merits of gay marriage or abortion, they should run for a seat in the legislature - not for a job on the Central Committee.

The only reason I am on the Central Committee is because I want to work to register voters, walk precincts and carry all our candidates literature and to work to turn out Republican voters at election time.

For these reasons, I ask for your vote on June 3.
