Started the drive for Cityhood

By Marc A. Miller

Candidate for Council Member; Proposed City of Menifee Valley

I spent the last 8 years on the Cityhood effort, 7000 signatures, hiring fiscal consultant (2), and keeping the Incoropration Process active.
I spent numerous years being actively involved in the Riverside County Integrated Plan (RCIP). In 2003 the RCIP was approved by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. The plan was not what it started out to be. We now have overlays on our Light Industrial/Commercial areas (next to the freeways) which can change the planning to Apartments, Residential Houses, Condominiums, or Commercial Growth. We need this land for jobs to keep our tax base low, and commuting close. Due to the projected growth, (250,000 in 2020) and the loss of jobs (due to the overlays) I STARTED THE MOVE FOR CITYHOOD. In 2003 we started the petition process which collected the signatures for the ballot. I am the only candidate that was on the signature campaign. I also helped Wildomar with their endevours for cityhood (co-ooperatively showed them the situations we were dealing with and how to over come them). Cityhood efforts have been ongoing for 16 years. We have a population of 60,000 people that need better services. The County of Riverside is not in the service industry (they fix the problem, they do not prevent it).
