By A. Brian "Brian" Calhoun

Candidate for Supervisor; County of Fresno; Supervisorial District 2

This information is provided by the candidate
- Cap excessive annual salary increases whereby supervisors receive automatic raises without citizen input.
- Establish an Elected County Executive. Based on my experience as a county supervisor in Wisconsin, I believe a county executive, elected by all Fresno County voters and not subject to removal by the Board of Supervisors, would significantly improve the woeful oversight of Fresno County's services, budget and overall governance. I would work to put this initiative on the ballot for a vote.
- Reform Budgeting Procedures - Fresno County is facing a $30 million budget deficit. In contraast the City of Fresno - of which I have been a part for the 7 years - has a multi-million dollar reserve. I propose a Commission on the Future of Fresno County Governance be established to make recommendations for improving County government and the budgeting process.
- As your County Supervisor, I will work to reform the County's outdated 19th Century model and move it towards a 21st Century model that is transparent, accountable and effective.
