Our school district has suffered from severe problems which resulted in a state takeover. As local control returns, Oakland's children deserve reasoned and capable decision makers who responsibly move the District forward. As your OUSD representative I'll fight for measures that take our children's future seriously. I will make the choices and pursue the necessary resources to improve performance, eradicate truancy, stem teacher flight, and banish crime in our schools. I'll fight for small class size; relevant vocational education; modern equipment, materials, and technology; clean and safe sites; and more parent involvement. As a 33 year Oakland resident, my wife and I raised four children, three of whom attended Oakland public schools. I hold a B.A. in Government/International Relations and an M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration. Our youth today deserve no less of an opportunity. I respectfully request your vote.
