Infrastructure - Roads & Bridges

By Jeff Harris

Candidate for State Senator; District 47; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
Increase funding for road improvements and bridge repairs.
Our roads and bridges are in desperate need of repair. The proposed tolling of Interstate 80 may never happen due to federal regulation that limits how revenue generated from toll roads may be spent. The proposed private leasing of the turnpike will generate a one-shot cash infusion to the general fund, and years of higher tolls to users of the turnpike. The key to increasing funds for our roads and bridges is to cut unnecessary spending in all other areas and divert those funds to where they are needed most.

Increased Tolls = Increased taxes = Increased state government spending! We need to stop the bleeding of Pennsylvania taxpayers wallets. Our gasoline taxes are presently the 4th highest in the nation. With the average price per gallon of regular gasoline approaching $3.30, no one will, nor should they, tolerate as little as a one cent gasoline tax increase.
