Congressman Fattah respects the role public education has played in building the American middle class and creating the most prosperous nation on earth. In Congress he is fighting to ensure that every child has the opportunity to attain an excellent education, regardless of the circumstances of their birth. He is also committed to ensuring every step on the educational ladder is available to everyone, that universal college access benefits individuals, families and the nation at large.

Congressman Fattah views America's great cities as the economic, cultural and educational engines driving the country. He is working in Congress to ensure that they continue to thrive and support the safety, well being and development of their residents and surrounding communities. Currently he is engaged in efforts to ensure that cities are benefiting from the growing green economy and that people are protected from the scourge of gun violence.

Congressman Fattah believes that America's tax structure should be an opportunity to drive economic growth, support important public functions and create a just society. He has proposed a Transaction Fee to replace all federal taxes, shifting the tax burden from wages to corporate transactions and broadening the tax base to ensure the fairness of the system.
