Larry Farnese is a long-time resident of Philadelphia who believes that the residents of the 1st Senatorial District deserve strong, assertive and visible representation in Harrisburg. From Philadelphia's political arena to its many civic organizations, he is deeply involved in shaping the local community.

His goal is clearly defined: Give Philadelphia the strong voice it deserves in Harrisburg.

Following in his family's long-standing history of public service started by his grandfather's tenure on the Philadelphia School Board, Larry is a strong advocate and supporter of public education. He personally sponsored programs on behalf of the Sister Cities Young Artist Program at the Moore College of Art and Design and Italica Arts and Education, which focus on giving children an appreciation for intercultural awareness.

Larry strongly believes in civic participation and volunteers his time with the Philadelphia Women's Center, many Democratic political campaigns, and civic association endeavors that range from distributing meals to low-income families to maintaining green space. Professionally, Larry is a litigation and business attorney at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, a Pennsylvania-based law firm with over 550 attorneys and government relations professionals in 16 cities across the nation. During Larry's professional career as a complex commercial litigator, he has tried cases in the federal and state courts of Pennsylvania and has litigated matters up and down the east coast. With over 12 years of experience in interpreting the laws of this Commonwealth, Larry is uniquely qualified to draft the legislation that will help advance the issues and causes important to our communities and our Commonwealth.

Larry serves on the Executive Boards of Casa Farnese (formerly known as Casa Fermi), Friends of the Garden of the Arts, The University of Pennsylvania's Young Friends of the International House and the Academy House Condominium.

He is also an active member and supporter of many of the district's civic associations, Washington West Neighborhood Watch, South Philadelphia Business Association, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, Liberty City Democratic Club, Liberty PA, the Human Rights Campaign, NARAL, NOW, Philly for Change, Neighborhood Networks, Philly Against Santorum, NABRR, CASiNO, Rebecca Davis Dance Co., Take Back Our City, Young America PAC and Democratic City Committee.

Larry graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a minor in English. He is a 1994 graduate of Temple University School of Law.
