Questions & Answers

1. What is your position on Measure A?

I support Measure A. I believe Lawndale has a great opportunity now to create a new building which will serve the needs of our residents, especially our seniors, for years to come. The city already owns the land where the proposed building will be located, and this will greatly reduce the cost of the development of such a center.

2. How can the City of Lawndale best secure an acceptable standard of public safety?

By striving to establish a much greater involvement of our residents with organizations such as Neighborhood Watch. Myself, along with several neighbors have worked during the past year to restore the Neighborhood Watch program in Lawndale. We have passed out fliers announcing meetings and have seen an increase in Sheriff Department patrols over the past few months. Our meetings have also provided a good amount of interaction with deputies who listen to our concerns. And graffiti has been greatly reduced in some neighborhoods as a direct result of residents learning to report what they witness.

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a city election in April of the even-numbered years? Do you favor continuing the practice?

I would actually prefer having our local election held at the same time the general election is held in the fall. I think this would save the city money and also increase voter participation.
