Staying in Touch

I'm walking every neighborhood in Whittier, knocking on doors--more than 4,000 so far--and listening to people throughout our city. It's a lot of work, but it's the best way I know to stay in touch with folks who may not have the time or money to lobby the city council, but who care deeply about their community. I want to continue to be your voice at city hall, and to work hard to make life better for all of us in Whittier. That's why I walk and that's why I listen."

Protecting Families

Whittier crime rates continue to be low. We've added police officers and begun the process of building a new police station with modern facilities to provide the kind of protection our citizens deserve. We've taken important steps to ensure a clean water supply and instituted the Safe Route to School sidewalk program for our kids.

Last year I successfully led the fight to protect our homes and families from dangerous fireworks, and I will fight to prevent the state from building a prison in our community.

Promoting Prosperity

The new Whittwood Town Center has been a great success, and plans to revitalize Uptown are nearly complete.

We need to continue encouraging vigorous economic development and better shopping opportunities for our residents. That includes working hard to make sure that the former Nelles and Alpha Beta properties are developed in ways that add value to the city and benefit surrounding neighborhoods.

Preserving Values

With over 18 years of service to our community, I'm committed to protecting the unique character of our town. I have fought alongside many others to preserve our hills and historic neighborhoods, restore Pio Pico Adobe, build a beautiful new Senior Center at Parnell Park and guide the Greenway Trail to near completion.

With your support, I will continue to steer us into the future guided by the solid values of our past.
