Priority for coming year...My top priority is to continue with programs that serve the taxpayers without expanding the cost of government. We will be creating a new program to sell tax liens to private collectors, enabling us to collect delinquencies a bit faster, and have the private collectors pay the cost of the program. This does more for our citizens without expanding the bureaucracy. We will be mindful of individuals who qualify for the homestead exemption, and balance our responsibility for collecting tax dollars with the problems of rampant foreclosures plaguing our country. The beauty of this new program is that we do not need to increase the cost of government in order to implement the tax lien sales. |
