Statement of ALKESH DESAI, Candidate for
Governing Board Member, Berryessa Union School District, Short Term

Education and Qualifications:
As an educator, business analyst, parent and active community member, I'm committed to improving public education. As an adjunct faculty member at Golden Gate University and teacher at the Art Institute, I understand the challenges we face.

I've served on the Berryessa District Advisory Committee and Site Councils at Independence High, Summerdale and Piedmont Middle School, where my child is a student. I'm a San Jose Small Business Development Commissioner and a Berryessa Citizens Advisory Council Board Member.

I will focus on maintaining and improving academic excellence, with an integrated program of sports, music and art to promote the complete development of children. I'll work for improved communication with parents, teachers and administrators to foster open dialogue and trust. I'll insist on budget efficiency and keeping our children safe.

Councilmember Kansen Chu says that I "will bring fresh ideas and dimensions of creativity to the Board." I am endorsed by Berryessa School Board President Rudy Nasol, Mayor Chuck Reed and many community leaders. It was an honor to be selected to fill the School Board Vacancy by the Board.
