Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Peter R Williamson

Candidate for
Council Member; Borough of Media

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe in preparing for and managing change. I believe that Media sits in the middle of a complex region, and that its leaders should be always looking outside for guidance on solving issues within our borders.

Media has been a successful town for many years. That success has been achieved by careful investments, like purchasing and protecting the Armory and Media Theater, saving Media Elementary School and the creation of a Business Authority.

Our challenge now is to maintain that level of success as we face new challenges. The known challenges will be to carefully manage our budget so we can maintain our excellent municipal services while still keeping up with street paving, pedestrian safety improvements, stormwater system repairs and the reconstruction of Third Street at Broomall's Lake. Council needs to be thoughtful about preparing for the costs that come with doing all this.

We also need to make strategic changes to our building regulations so that our neighborhoods remain attractive, even as new homes are built within them, and so our commercial areas retain their best features as they grow and change.

With these and all the challenges the Borough faces, a Councilperson has ask for as many alternatives as possible, to look beyond what's been done in the Borough before, and try always to balance fiscal responsibility and quality of life.
