I served 5 years with the Madison Place Fire Dept./Life Squad, where I attained the rank of Lieutenant prior to persuing a career in law enforcement.

In 1973, I was hired by the Village of Newtown, as a patrol officer, and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1976.

In 1987 I was promoted to Chief of Police, where I served the residents of Newtown until March 2007, when I retired after 34 years of service. While serving as Chief of Police, I attended Cincinnati State Community College, where I majored in Law Enforcement Administration. I was noninated by the College Dean, and inducted into the National Honor Society for my high academic achievements.

Upon retiring from the police division, I accepted a position with Primerica Financial Services, a Citi Company. PFS is the largest financial services company in North America and Canada.

During my tenure as Police Chief, we upgraded equipment to state of the art tools, so the officers could perform their duties in the most efficient, professional, and safest manner possible. We also increased man-power to deal with the increased calls for service.

I hold the longest longevity for any Village employee, as well as the longest longevity for all past Police Chiefs.

I have always tried to be honest and compassionate when dealing with others, as my decisions affect not only myself and our officers, but thousands of our residents.

During my law enforcement career I received several letters of commendation from the Ohio Attorney General's office, the Ohio House of Representatives, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foriegn Wars, and The President of the United States, just to name a few.

Above all, I have always been fiscally responsible with the taxpayer's hard earned dollars, and have always operated under a balanced budget, many times operating well under the budget established by the Village Council.
