VILLAGE OF GREENHILLS COUNCIL CANDIDATE PROFILE

L. Christine Visnich

Chris and her husband Rudy have owned a home on Avenell Lane, in the historic district of Greenhills, for 35 years. Their grown children, Brock and Valerie graduated from Greenhills High School and Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.

A ten-year member of Village Council, Chris was first appointed to fill an unexpired term on Council in January 1997. Her first Council assignment was as Chair of Community Development, which she redefined and converted into an active volunteer organization consisting of a Community Development Committee and a Board of Neighborhood Representatives. Through Chris' leadership, these two active volunteer groups were responsible for bringing new citizen involvement and energy to the Village. "Concerts on the Commons," Beautification, the Pioneer Park with the Ohio Historical Marker, "Light up Greenhills," and "Greenhills Clean-Sweep" are some tangible results of Chris' leadership which continue today.

For the past seven years, Chris has served as Chair of Traffic & Safety, which is responsible for the Police, Fire and general safety of the Village. During this time, Chris has been involved with the Ordering of a new fire engine, which was delivered in 2004, the selection of a new highly qualified Police Chief 2004 and the strengthening and upgrading of the Police Department. Additionally, Chris has contributed to Council by initiating and taking a leadership role in holding an annual Council Retreat for the past nine years and by initiating a Vision 2000 effort, which led to a long range economic development plan for revitalizing and upgrading deteriorating sections of the Village. Currently, Chris is serving as Vice President Pro-Tempore of Council.

Chris is Principal/Owner of L. Christine Visnich & Associates, LLC, a retained Executive Search Consulting firm specializing in identifying and hiring talented senior executives for corporate and non-profit clients throughout the Midwest. Prior to starting her own business in 2001, Chris served as Vice President/Director of a local retained executive search firm, with whom she was affiliated for fourteen years. She has been in the retained Executive Search field for the past 30 years. She is the Past-Chair of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce Regional Business Retention Committee, Past-President of the Cincinnati Chapter of the National Human Resource Association, serves on the Board of Directors of a philanthropic consulting firm and is an Ordained Elder and member of the Greenhills Community Church, Presbyterian. During her early years in Greenhills, Chris was a Cub Scout Den Mother/Den Leader Coach for two years and a Girl Scout Leader for two years. In 1991 she served as Chair of a Mayor's Special Committee to evaluate the Greenhill's Volunteer Fire Department.

Chris was born and raised in Ashland, Ohio and is a graduate of Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. In her spare time, Chris enjoys family activities, which include her four grandchildren, tennis, needlework and travel.

Chris brings strong organizational and leadership skills to Council, along with a determination to preserve the best of our heritage, while operating from a realistic long-range plan to assure quality housing, community services and economic security for the future of Greenhills.
